Should I work with Agent Pronto?

Agent Pronto isn't worth your time. There's spotty customer service, no quality control, and zero cost savings (you'll pay the standard 2.5–3% listing fee). You can get better results and value elsewhere.

How does Agent Pronto work?

  1. Sign up for Agent Pronto on its website by submitting a form with a few simple questions, such as where you're looking to buy or sell, the type of property you're buying or selling, your budget or estimated home value, and your contact information.
  2. Within a few minutes, an Agent Pronto concierge will reach out via phone and email to introduce themselves and the service. They'll also gather additional information if needed, such as your selling timeline.
  3. You'll get an email with 1–2 matches within four hours. The email includes a link to a customer dashboard where you can view additional information about your agent matches, such as their contact information and specialties. It also includes a brief introduction written by the agent.
  4. Review your initial matches, and decide whether to request an additional agent match, reach out to agents to schedule interviews, or walk away if you don't like any of the agents.
  5. If you hire an Agent Pronto agent, you'll sign a listing agreement, and concierges will check in from time to time to ensure your transaction is progressing smoothly. 

How much does Agent Pronto cost?

Agent Pronto is free for home buyers and sellers — all agent matching services are.

But if you're selling, you still have to cover the average realtor commission. Sellers typically pay 5–6% of the sale price in agent commissions. Half usually goes to your listing agent and half to the buyer's agent.

UpNest is a real estate agent marketplace, where local realtors submit proposals to compete for your business. But these will be boilerplate proposals, unlike the customized proposals based on your property that a full-service agent will provide.

In theory, that competition incentivizes agents to offer lower commission fees. Some agents may quote you a lower commission rate to make their proposal more enticing.

Our testers found the UpNest customer dashboard intuitive and helpful, and agent matches arrived within an hour. The matches were generally solid, with real estate agents having good track records and experience based on the information we submitted.

But the savings are usually minimal, with most UpNest agents charging listing fees of 2–2.5% — only slightly less than the average realtor fee in most states. Other similar services, like Clever, offer larger discounts, plus they guarantee you’ll pay the same low rate no matter where you are or which agent you choose.

Agent Pronto is faster and easier than a DIY realtor search. You simply enter a few details on its website, and you'll get connected with a couple of local agents. 

This benefit, however, is not unique to Agent Pronto. It is shared by all agent matching services.

Additionally, we recommend interviewing 2–3 agents before making a decision to work with one. You'll be able to compare qualifications and make an informed choice about the agent who best meets your needs. Here are some questions to ask each realtor before choosing who to hire.

Since Agent Pronto sometimes gives just a single match, we recommend using it in tandem with another agent matching service or a DIY realtor search to be sure the agent you select is a good fit.

⚠️ Inconsistent customer service

Our mystery shoppers had mixed experiences with Agent Pronto's customer service team. Some concierges were very smart and helpful. Others weren't even knowledgeable about the company's offerings. 

Alternative agent matching services (like Clever and Ideal Agent) are more customer-oriented. These companies require their concierges to be licensed real estate agents with industry experience. The concierges are able to expertly guide buyers and sellers through their transactions and offer informed advice along the way.

It is unfortunate that you do not follow up with customers during their experience ... Perhaps then some of the negative experiences we had with our agent could have been addressed. ⚠️ Inadequate customer dashboard 

Agent Pronto gives buyers and sellers a dashboard where they can review some basic details about their agent matches. However, this information doesn't help customers make an educated realtor choice.

Agent Pronto's dashboard features contact information, a handful of specialties (if relevant), and an introductory paragraph written by the agent. Though it's not ideal, it is a step above some alternative agent matching services that don't have a dashboard and simply provide agent names via text (MyAgentFinder, for example). 

Other services, such as UpNest and HomeLight, give customers much more detailed information to help guide their choice and save time, such as:

  • Number and locations of recent sales
  • Sales statistics like average days on market and list price accuracy
  • An itemized list of services included, such as home staging and drone photography

If you choose to use Agent Pronto, you'll have to do some independent research elsewhere to find important performance data for your matches.

Agent Pronto doesn't offer any kind of cost-savings benefits for home sellers or buyers. But alternative services do.

For example, Clever pre-negotiates a 1.5% listing commission. On a $400,000 home sale, you'd save $6,000 compared to the typical 3% listing fee.

Some companies also offer home buyer rebates or other buyer savings. Clever offers buyers cash back after closing.

Agent Pronto claims to work with "top" agents, but it's not clear how it defines this. The company doesn't list benchmarks agents must meet to join its network. 

Most alternative agent matching services are transparent about their requirements for agents. These include criteria like:

  • Minimum number of years of experience
  • Minimum number of deals closed in the past 12 months
  • Minimum average rating on Zillow
  • Licenses held

It appears any agent can join the Agent Pronto network, regardless of their performance or experience level. Some of the agents our shoppers were matched with had no recent sales or few sales in the shopper's target area.

We conclude using Agent Pronto offers no value. Buyers and sellers can achieve the same results by simply conducting an online search for "real estate agents near me."
