Our take: Clever is our top pick in Alabama for home sellers looking to save on realtor commission without sacrificing full service.
What we like: Clever gets you discounted rates (up to 50%) from non-discount realtors. Plus, Clever’s agent matching service is highly rated and free to use with no obligation.
How it works: Clever matches you with top local realtors from major brokerages like RE/MAX and Compass. You compare options to find the best fit and get the special 1.5% listing fee (same as Redfin) no matter which real estate agent you choose.
Pros
- Sell with a traditional agent from a name-brand brokerage (not a discount agent) and receive full service
- Agents work for up to 50% off their typical rate when you go through Clever
- Most agent selection by far — choose from hundreds of top Alabama real estate agents
Cons
- No guarantee you’ll be able to work with a specific agent or brokerage you have in mind
- Add-ons like professional staging, drone photos, and 3D tours may cost extra (agents will break down what’s included during their listing presentation)
Fee structure
- 1.5% listing fee ($3,000 min.) at closing
- 2–3% buyer’s agent commission at closing

Our take: Redfin offers decent value as a discount real estate broker for many home sellers in Alabama, but Clever offers more real estate agent selection in the state.
What we like: Redfin provides discounted real estate rates at a 1.5% listing fee, which can lead to significant savings compared to the typical 3% commission charged by other realtors. Plus, you’ll receive an extra 0.5% off your listing fee if you choose to both sell and buy through Redfin within a year.
What to watch out for: While Redfin’s technology-driven and team-oriented approach to selling homes can be the right fit for many, it might not be ideal for everyone. Most of the process is managed remotely with the assistance of a Lead Agent and a dedicated back-office team.
Pros
- Enjoy substantial savings due to Redfin’s lower listing fees
- Benefit from a reputable and well-established brand that offers a wide selection of discount agents
- Redfin’s tech-driven approach may be particularly appealing to certain sellers
Cons
- The high-volume and team-based approach of Redfin may not be the best fit for every seller
- Redfin offers a smaller number of real estate agents compared to Clever in Alabama
Fee structure:
- 1.5% listing fee ($3,000 min. in Alabama) at closing
- 2–3% buyer’s agent commission at closing
- 0.5% listing fee refund if you also buy with Redfin within 12 months

Our take: Flat Fee Real Estate Birmingham provides a simple and cost-effective approach to selling your home in Alabama. With its flat fee model based on your home’s value, you can save a substantial amount on real estate commissions. However, this discount realtor does charge an administration fee at closing, which isn’t ideal.
What we like: Flat Fee Real Estate offers transparent and competitive flat fee pricing starting at $2,900 for homes under $350k. Its full service also includes valuable features like open houses, electronic lockboxes, and marketing options as part of the listing.
Things to watch out for: Make sure to consider that the flat fee increases as the value of your home increases. This pricing structure may not be as advantageous for all home sellers. Flat Fee Real Estate also charges an additional administration fee of $275 at closing.
Pros
- A flat fee structure that allows potential savings for sellers with higher-priced homes
- Included features like open houses, electronic lockboxes, and marketing materials
Cons
- The flat fee model may not be suitable for all sellers in Alabama
- Additional administration fee charged at closing
Fee structure
- $2,900—7,500 or 1% based on home value at closing
- 2.5% buyers agent commission at closing
- $275 administration fee at closing

Our take: 1 Percent Lists Legacy offers a simplified commission model for Alabama home sellers. However, more review information is needed to evaluate this discount real estate broker’s service quality based on customer experiences.
What we like: 1 Percent Lists Legacy offers a low 1% listing fee. This can result in significant savings, especially for high-value properties. Its full-service approach covers all aspects of the selling process, including Bluetooth lockboxes, social media marketing, and contract negotiation. As part of the 1% Lists network, this broker may offer more support than other local discount realtors in Alabama.
Things to watch out for: Unfortunately, no customer reviews or ratings are available for 1 Percent Lists Legacy in our database. This limits our ability to gauge its service level based on past customer experiences. To make an informed decision, we recommend scheduling an interview with a 1 Percent Lists Legacy real estate agent to learn more about its services.
Pros
- 1% listing fee, allowing for potentially substantial savings
- Comprehensive full-service plan covering all aspects of the selling process
- Local expertise, providing deep knowledge of the Alabama market
Cons
- Limited review information makes it hard to assess service quality

Our take: Saving Along The Coast Realty offers a competitive advantage with its 1% full-service listing plan, but a lack of customer reviews could mean it doesn’t handle many listings in Alabama.
What we like: Being part of the nationwide 1% Lists brand, Saving Along The Coast benefits from the support of a robust network. Its 1% listing fee is also significantly lower than the average 2.5-3% commission most agents charge. This discount real estate broker also uses tech-focused marketing strategies, including social media marketing and online listings, to maximize listing exposure.
Things to watch out for: Saving Along The Coast has limited transaction data and customer feedback in Alabama, meaning that the company is either new or may not handle a large volume of sales. Also, this discount realtor doesn’t offer realtor-led open houses, which could be a drawback in competitive markets.
Pros
- Low 1% listing fee, offering potential for significant savings
- Comprehensive full-service offerings, including guidance on pricing, staging, marketing, and closing assistance
- Potential support from the larger 1% Lists network
Cons
- Lack of transaction record, which may indicate a lack of experience or service quality
- Limited service area compared to other available options in Alabama
Fee structure
- 1% listing fee at closing
- 2–3% recommended buyer’s agent commission at closing

Other discount real estate brokerages in Alabama
Assist-2-Sell is a nationwide flat fee discount real estate broker in Alabama, but it did not make our list because its flat fee varies by location, and there’s limited service information available. These factors make it hard to provide accurate specifics on Assist-2-Sell’s offerings to compare this brokerage to other top Alabama discount realtors.
Discount Realtor matches licensed discount REALTORS® with home sellers in the Alabama area. These real estate agents either offer a discounted commission or flat fee listing on local MLS. Discount Realtor didn’t make our list because it doesn’t offer concrete pricing guidelines online and lacks verified transactions in the area.
Local Realty Flat Fee offers flat fee listings based on home value for Alabama home sellers. This discount real estate broker missed our list because of limited transaction and customer review data in our database, and the pricing model may not benefit all home sellers.
Sold By List provides flat fee listings for Alabama residents, but it did not make our list of best discount real estate brokers in Alabama due to a lack of customer review data and relatively high list cost at $5,000. Other highly-rated discount realtors offer potentially better service with at a better rate than Sold By List.
Limited-service and flat fee MLS Alabama brokers
Sellers who have more experience in real estate may be interested in using limited-service or flat fee MLS companies. These brokerages offer less support but for a lower fee than full-service discount realtors.

Why trust us
Data sources
Our Research Team gathered 483 discrete pricing and service models to create our initial list of Alabama discount real estate brokerages. We then compiled and analyzed a further 12,015,866 publicly available data points tied to past transactions, customer reviews, licensing info, and more to categorize each service and create our final list and rankings.
Methodology
The Real Estate Witch Team used public business directories to identify every company in Alabama calling itself a discount real estate broker or agent. We then filtered that list down and ranked the top Alabama options based on the following criteria:
- Service level: We only included and rated full-service discount real estate brokers to start, which we think are the best option for most home sellers. These companies offer the same key services you’d expect from a traditional realtor, including in-person representation and end-to-end support.
- Pricing: We assessed each company’s fee structure and cross-referenced it with the service model to determine who was offering (a) the best overall value — price vs. service — and (b) the fewest unfavorable pricing terms, like high minimums, nonrefundable upfront fees, or other hidden costs.
- Customer reviews: We evaluated all verifiable customer reviews for each service. We considered not only the total review counts, average customer ratings, and key positive and negative themes, but we also assessed factors like how recent and relevant the reviews were to customers making hiring decisions right now.
- Sales activity: We looked at available data about past transactions to gauge sales performance and activity level.
