eXp Realty is a traditional brokerage with agents nationwide. The company is in the top three US real estate brokerages by volume,[9] and it offers extensive training to help agents deliver high-quality service.

While eXp Realty has many great agents, its realtors typically charge full commission (around 2.5–3%). As you compare options, consider speaking with low-commission agents, too — many offer the same full-service support as eXp agents but at a significantly lower cost, sometimes up to half the price.

Who eXp Realty works best for

eXp Realty LLC could be one of the best options to consider if you’re looking for a traditional real estate agent with years of experience and a lot of sales. The company is one of the largest real estate brokerages in the US by both transactions and sales volume. It also emphasizes the continuous education of its agents and provides them with marketing and sales support.

eXp Realty can also be a good fit if you have a luxury property or want to sell as-is for cash, since the brokerage offers additional services specifically for these types of sellers.

However, eXp Realty might not be the best choice if you want to save on realtor commission while still receiving full service. In this case, a discount broker may be a better fit.

Traditional brokerages typically charge a listing fee of around 2.5–3%. Discount brokers like Clever Real Estate and Redfin charge only 1.5%, which could save you thousands of dollars in realtor commissions.

On a $400,000 home sale, a 1.5% rate would save you $6,000 compared to 3%.

These savings don't come at the expense of quality. The top discount brokers offer full service (just like traditional brokerages) and vet agents in their network so you can easily connect with top-producing agents.

eXp Realty reviews differ across platforms. Yelp has an overall positive rating of the company, but review sites like the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs display much lower customer satisfaction. There are also many Google reviews across locations, and they tend to be positive.

Your experience will largely depend on the individual agent you choose. Before committing, look up reviews for that specific agent on platforms like Zillow and Google to get a clearer sense of their track record and client experience.

Positive eXp Realty reviews

✅ Agent expertise and professionalism

Many buyers and sellers leave reviews for eXp Realty praising a particular agent and their service and support along the way.

Margaret Lim is our angel! ... Margaret is so patient, kind, transparent, and very very supportive! She is very knowledgeable! She was able to manage our expectations and emotions. Throughout this process, there were a lot of times we wanted to give up but she gave us strength, confidence, and reminded us to have faith! Margaret was able to leverage her good/strong relationship with a lot of people and businesses to help us achieve our dream to have a home of our own! ... Thank you Margaret for your perseverance and for all the discounts you were able to get for us! FYI, even after we already got the house, Margaret still assists us with all the questions that we have about moving, etc.

Kateryna F. Nov. 2025 Yelp

Scott did a phenomenal job working for us and went above and beyond every expectation I had going into my first home purchase. We were able to provide properties we were interested in and he was able to find homes in a similar style that we hadn’t even noticed and even some that weren’t on the market yet. He is a top notch negotiator and he was able to land us in a contract that had the seller pay the majority of the closing by costs. He found our family the perfect home and if I ever move again he is the only person I’d trust.

We are SO thankful for Eric! He helped us sell our house during a really tough market, and we honestly couldn’t have done it without him. From day one, he was super proactive — always keeping us updated, checking in regularly, and walking us through every step with so much patience and care. He really went above and beyond for us.

✅ Quick selling timelines

Customers often praise the speed of the selling process, which exceeded their expectations.

Ms. ** and Mr. ** here in Anniston, AL, were SO gracious to assist us in the RAPID sell of our home AND the purchase of our new place, allowing us to downsize, as needed! I would HIGHLY recommend their service! Thank you so much eXp Realty!

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience selling our home than working with Chris Stange. In a flat market where most homes were just sitting, Chris thought outside the box to drive saves, views, and ultimately real showings. He moved fast, stayed professional, and had a strategy that kept us confident the whole way through. The result? A full-price sale in a market where that just doesn’t happen. Chris isn’t just good at what he does—he delivers.

eXp Realty review complaints

❌ Inconsistent agent quality

Plenty of eXp Realty reviews highlight great real estate agents. However, there are also many customers who were unhappy with their agent.

I would not recommend Gene Hastings, eXP Realty in Scottsdale, AZ based on my experience. Selling our home was handled adequately, but nothing stood out. When purchasing our next home, there was little to no effort to negotiate on our behalf, which in hindsight felt more focused on closing quickly than advocating for us.

Malisa Jan. 2026 Consumer Affairs

My experience with eXp Realty and agent Peter ** was extremely disappointing and unprofessional from start to finish. After signing a buyer–broker agreement in good faith, Peter made a major error during a showing that caused us to skip the unit we were actually most interested in. When I questioned the pricing he quoted, he dismissed it and didn’t even double-check the listing. We later discovered he was completely wrong — something that cost us time, energy, and the opportunity to see a unit we cared about.

❌ Poor communication

Customers also mention communication issues and difficulty reaching agents.

I couldn’t believe how unprofessional eXp Realty was. They lied to me, pressured me to sign, and then completely stopped answering calls afterward. Do not waste your time or money with them. Their communication is extremely poor.

They are not helpful and didn't respond to your emails and phone calls.

How eXp Realty works

eXp Realty has full-service agents who can help you buy or sell. Here's what the process looks like:

  1. Connect with an agent. You can search for an agent in your area on eXp Realty's website. Each agent has a bio that includes their specialties and contact info so you can compare agents and reach out to them. You can also complete a contact form after getting a free home value estimate or looking at homes for sale on the company website.
  2. Sign a contract. If you’re a seller, you have to sign a listing agreement to start working with one of the real estate agents. In many cases, buyers also have to sign a contract before touring homes.
  3. Sell or close on a house. Your listing agent or buyer's agent will support you throughout your real estate transaction, from listing your home or finding houses to view to helping you with negotiations and paperwork.

eXp Realty services

Generally, you can expect these services if you use an eXp Realty agent to sell:

  • A listing on the MLS
  • A home evaluation and market analysis
  • Marketing support
  • Pricing advice
  • Staging assistance
  • Open house management
  • Referrals to home inspectors, photographers, and other professionals
  • Negotiation assistance
  • Support with paperwork

Buyers can also expect full service. However, services can vary depending on your location and agent. Before signing with an eXp realtor, talk to them to understand the exact services they provide.

Additional services

This platform is free for buyers and sellers who are working with eXp Realty agents. It gives visibility into pre-market and off-market listings across the country. With eXp Access, buyers can discover properties that aren't yet listed anywhere else, giving them an advantage over other potential bidders. For sellers, the platform keeps their listings discrete, which is especially important for luxury real estate.

ExpressOffers is a proprietary cash buyer platform of eXp Realty LLC. This platform can help you quickly sell a house as is, without listing and staging. You'll potentially get multiple cash offers on your home, and a concierge will walk you through your options. Before using this service, you may want to compare it with other companies that buy houses for cash to find the right solution for your situation.

eXp Luxury is for sellers with high-end properties. You'll work with an agent who is experienced in selling luxury real estate. Your agent will provide traditional services as well as:

  • Professional photography and videography
  • 3D virtual reality
  • Home staging
  • Marketing through the Wall Street Journal, The Robb Report, Mansion Global, Unique Homes, and more
  • A concierge service

eXp Realty news and updates

eXp Realty partnered with mapping and property-data company Land id to give agents access to advanced geospatial tools and detailed land insights. The collaboration provides data like parcel boundaries, environmental information, and tax details, helping agents better analyze properties, create presentations, and market listings more effectively.[1]

eXp Realty continues expanding internationally, announcing new launches in additional European markets (Romania, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) as part of its broader global growth strategy.[2]

eXp Realty launched LYVVE, a global property search platform that lets agents and buyers explore listings across nearly 30 countries where the company operates. The platform is designed to connect international buyers and agents in real time, with features like multi-currency support and built-in messaging to simplify cross-border home searches and showcase global properties in one place.[3]

The company reported a 2% yearly revenue increase to $1.2 billion in the third quarter of 2024, despite a net loss of $6.5 million. eXp Realty also saw a 4% decrease in agents to 85,249, but a 5% growth in transaction volume to $50.8 billion despite the decline in its workforce.[4]

eXp Realty continues to grow at an impressive rate. The firm plans to expand its presence to 27 countries in 2025, adding Türkiye, Peru, and Egypt as three new markets. These locations all show real estate market growth, a modernizing landscape, and increased interest from local and foreign investors.[5]

The company will pay $34 million to settle antitrust litigation filed in the Hooper vs. National Association of Realtors case and make undisclosed changes to its business practices. This settlement follows similar agreements by other large real estate firms, such as Compass, Douglas Elliman, and Redfin.[6]

The company expanded its reach in 20 states by acquiring CanZell Realty, led by Chantel Ray. This acquisition follows the company’s recent pattern of strategic growth, with other additions being New York–based Grand Lux Realty, Florida’s Broker’s LLC, and St. Louis–based Delhougne Realty Group.[7]

eXp Realty is known for its focus on the continuous education of its agents, and now the company has launched eXp Elevate Coaching. The platform is designed to support the professional development and growth of agents across North America. It offers mastery programs, one-on-one coaching, and mastermind groups.[8]

Bottom line: Should I use eXp Realty?

eXp Realty is one of the largest brokerages in the country for a reason. It's a reputable company that will likely have agents in your area, and there's no risk in interviewing its agents to see if they're a good fit.

We recommend talking to a few agents before choosing one, since your agent can make a big difference in your buying or selling experience. Look for a professional who knows your local market and offers the best value for your money.
